Don’t Get Robbed When Selling Gold, Be Safe!

Written By: Kevin Robbins, Gold Solutions

The State of Florida has stringent requirements when anyone is involved with the buying and selling of gold.  It is important for everyone to understand this process when thinking
to sell gold in Fort Myers or anywhere in the State of Florida.

Gold Solutions follows these requirements exactly and through out the years when we buy gold we discovered really how important it is to follow these rules.  The first step is to have a certificate of authorization from the department of revenue.  To get this certificate is difficult and requires a lot of processes so the person who gets it does not want to lose it.  Make sure you do not sell to anyone without a license to sell precious metals.

These rules are set up for a very good reason.  They provide safety for the people who buy gold and for the people who sell gold.  The primary problem is theft.

Thieves are dangerous people and when they are in a shop to sell gold, people also selling gold that are in the gold buyers shop are exposed.  Thieves are always looking for the next dollar and gold customers are leaving the shop with much money in their pockets.  They can get robbed.

The ability for thieves to liquidate their stolen items promotes them breaking into houses to steal.  Now the new requirements for metal dealers requires steps that thieves do not like.  They must provide and ID, a fingerprint and signature claiming their metal is theirs to sell.  This process has almost stopped the theft of air conditioners and it is helping with gold jewelry also.

You understanding of our requirement to perform this process is greatly appreciated.  Please make sure you have a state issued ID when you visit our shop.  The records are kept by us only for two weeks and used when there is a theft by the sheriff through an internet tracking system.  Each item has a picture taken and documented.  They then are disposed of properly to protect your identity.

Please help us in all not to sell gold to ANYONE without a license to do so and it should be posted in their shop visible to all patrons (Ours is posted on our website.  Make sure when you are in the shop that they require the above mentioned processes.  We all can help preventing theft by following the law.

Would you sell gold at your garage sale?
